Is an annual gyno exam necessary after a total hysterectomy?

I had a total hysterectomy in December and went back last month for my "annual" exam. I no longer need a pap because I don't have those parts anymore. Can anyone tell me the need to go every year anyway? I am 52 in good health, 5'2" and 120lbs. Everything was removed, I had endometriosis, adenomyosis, adhesions, and a non cancerous tumor. I just don't understand the need for an annual exam.
